Mykonos may be beloved for its exotic nightlife and daytime excesses, but two new hotels recall a simpler era on the “island of the winds.” After an extensive renovation, the landmark Mykonos Theonexia has been reborn as a minimalist paradise—with 49 rooms, including some with private pools. And a few miles away, Once in Mykonos is a 59-room hotel on a hill overlooking Ornos beach. Both new Mykonos hotels have partnered with a local yacht company to offer private cruises along the island’s coastline with dive centers that take guests to explore the underwater ruins. In other words, Mykonos as it really used to be.
