Georgian deputy economy minister Mariam Kvrivishvili on Thursday announced ₾200 million ($73.81mln) would be allocated at the initiative of prime minister Irakli Garibashvili to improve tourism infrastructure and contribute to the creation of new jobs in the sector.
Kvrivishvili also noted the government’s recently announced programme for developing new tourism locations while upgrading the existing destinations in the country.
She explained the tourism sector would receive the funds as an “important contributor” to the country’s economic growth.
“It will contribute to the recovery dynamics of the tourism industry, strengthen the sector, create new jobs and, most importantly, strengthen small and medium-sized businesses in the regions”, Kvrivishvili noted.
