On Reddit, several cruise passengers shared their best kept-secrets for other guests. From quiet areas on the ship to the best time to get photos, there were a few useful tips for new passengers.
One guest said: “The nightclubs on high decks are often kept open during the day for knitting and Bible groups.
“They are quiet and empty most of the day and often have a couple of outlets.”
On a huge cruise ship, it can sometimes be difficult to find a quiet area to relax. One passenger recommended that guests head to the nightclub that day.
As it won’t be being used, the cruise line may open it up for guests who want a little peace and quiet.
Another guest said they found the best time to enjoy the ship was when other passengers were exploring a port.

They said: “Don’t feel like you have to stay on land all day during port days. You simply don’t have to book an excursion for each port.
“Port days are the absolute best days on the ship, most of the ship will be much less crowded, so you can relax without jostling for seats or standing in lines.”
Although most passengers will want to see the destinations they visit, guests could also choose to stay on the ship if they want.
Swimming pools and spas will usually be quieter although some areas may be closed for cleaning.
DON’T MISS
Another passenger advised: “Best time to get photos with an increased likelihood that no one will be in the background is early in the morning (before 8am) and late at night (after 1am).
“Most public areas will be empty. If you try to get a photo just before or after dinner, expect strangers to be in the background or trying to walk between you and the person taking the photo.”
Most tourists love to bring back a few holiday snaps to share on Instagram or show their friends and family.
The best time to get photos will probably be in the early morning before other guests have woken up.

Guests could also have a chance of getting a very special sunrise photo that might make the early start worth it.
All cruise ships will have areas that are off limits to passengers. These could be crew quarters, engine rooms or kitchens.
However, there’s one way that guests could get a glimpse of what’s going on behind the scenes.
A person said: “Some ships have paid behind the scenes tours. They will usually show you the galley and the main line hallway for the ship’s crew.”
For many holidaymakers, food is a highlight of the trip. One guest shared their best tip for enjoying the cruise food.
They said: “Order three lobsters on lobster night. I do! I had three lobster nights on my last cruise and I loved every bit of those dinners.
“I order one of everything that looks good at dinner. I might eat all of it and I might not. I do enjoy every single bite I eat, though.”
If guests have an all-inclusive deal, they will be able to eat as much as they like. However, guests shouldn’t take too much as it could contribute to unnecessary food waste.
