Based on the accommodation search data on Expedia.com.sg during the period of July to November 2022 for travel from December 2022 to February 2023, Bangkok, Tokyo, Seoul and Bali are listed among the top searched destinations this period for Singapore travellers.
Expedia’s search data also revealed that the top reason for travel remains the same regardless where they are travelling to. 66 per cent are hoping to relax and regenerate themselves, and 59 per cent want to take a break from work.
However, Expedia reported that almost half (42 per cent) of Singapore travellers are planning to travel to cold destinations during the winter season, while 28 per cent are looking to relax at a sunny holiday.
With some still apprehensive about the COVID-19 situation worldwide, it is unsurprising that some Singapore travellers are postponing overseas trips and opting for staycations to escape the erratic weather of the monsoon season at home.
