Budget airline Ryanair led the race for your holiday spend when they announced their biggest ever Edinburgh summer schedule, with over 250 weekly flights – 50 more than the pre-pandemic 2019 schedule.
They will fly to eight new destinations this summer – Bari in Italy; Cork, Ireland; Madrid and Santiago in Spain; Marrakesh, Morocco; Nimes and Paris, France and Palermo in Sicily – as well as popular hotspots in Greece, Spain, Italy and Croatia.
Edinburgh Airport’s CEO Gordon Dewar said: “Ryanair’s continued expansion at Edinburgh is extremely encouraging and is a huge show of confidence in the Edinburgh market.
“Aviation will play an important role in the recovery of the Scottish and UK economies and to be in a position where Ryanair are offering more than they did pre-pandemic is a very good place for us to be in.
“We know there’s a pent-up demand for travel and we want to offer choice to people, which is why we are looking to both retain and grow Edinburgh’s connectivity.”
Jet2.com have also added more flights and holidays to Malaga and Alicante this April and May from Glasgow Airport after strong demand for spring and Easter holidays.
The tour operator said they have witnessed a surge in demand for late getaways, winter breaks and summer holidays.
They will launch an additional Thursday service to Malaga from April 7 and an extra Wednesday flight from April 6.
Steve Heapy, CEO of Jet2.com and Jet2holidays, said: “We are seeing sustained demand right across the board from Glasgow Airport, with customer confidence bouncing back strongly as international travel starts to look like normal again.
“We are seeing strong demand and we are responding to that quickly by adding more capacity where necessary, providing customers with even more choice and flexibility.
