Despite ever-increasing gas prices, drivers are still hitting the road during spring break, according to travel insurance and assistance partner Allianz Partners.
Allianz reviewed 30,000 car rental reservations from mid-February 2022 through bookings into April of this year, and found that warm-weather destinations are still ruling the road when it comes to spring break wanderlust.

Orlando, not surprisingly, led the list followed by Los Angeles and Phoenix.

“Gas prices are on everyone’s mind, but they aren’t dampening Americans’ desire to hit the road for Spring Break,” Daniel Durazo, director of external communications for Allianz Partners USA, said in a statement. “Choosing Allianz’s Rental Car Damage Protector over rental car counter collision damage products can help travelers secure the coverage, benefits and service they need at a reasonable cost, preserving funds for vacation experiences and souvenirs.”
Tampa, Las Vegas, Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Fort Myers, Honolulu and Denver rounded out the top 10.
The car rental findings are in line with a recent survey of the company’s airline customers that found that 81 percent of travelers taking Spring Break trips in 2022 will be traveling within the continental U.S.
Allianz Partners offers its Rental Car Damage Protector through leading travel providers and directly to consumers as an alternative to the typically higher-priced collision damage insurance products that are offered at rental car counters.
Orlando was also No. 1 on the list last year but Los Angeles jumped significantly from 2021 when it landed in the No. 8 spot.
