Ahead of the summer travel rush, two airliners have announced the resumption of several nonstop flights from San Antonio International Airport. Frontier and Sun Country Airlines will now take you to your next vacation destination.
“The return of these flights gives travelers even more options to see our beautiful city this summer and discover the charm that makes this city unique. This is also an opportunity for local travelers looking for low-cost family vacations to visit these popular destinations,” said Jesus H. Saenz, Jr, San Antonio’s director of airports, said in a statement. “We expect the airport to be extremely busy this season and we are prepared to welcome the traffic”.
Sun Country is resuming seasonal flight service to Cancun, Las Vegas and Minneapolis. Beginning Friday, May 27, Cancun flights will be operating four times a week on Thursdays, Fridays, Sundays, and Mondays — an expansion since last summer’s two flights a week itinerary. Flights to Las Vegas will occur twice weekly beginning in September, and flights to Minneapolis will run four times a week that will take off on Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays beginning Friday, May 20.
Frontier Airlines will begin a year-round service to Atlanta starting on Thursday, May 26. Flights will leave the gate on Thursdays and Sundays. Beginning on Friday, June 10, Frontier will also begin flight service to Philadelphia every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Prior to the airline’s addition of the historic Pennsylvania city, Philadelphia was San Antonio’s greatest unserved market.
