It’s hard to believe we’ve lived through a worldwide pandemic sometimes, isn’t it? That’s not to say Covid has magically disappeared, of course. But now that we live with it, what was once perceived as bizarre is now our ‘normal’ way of life. Now, we wouldn’t bat an eye lid at someone wearing a face mask or regularly using hand sanitiser, and working from home is no longer a cause for suspicion. Well, for the most part.

Since the pandemic started, people have taken the opportunity to work remotely wherever they please. As long as you’re getting the job done, your physical presence isn’t required, and you’ve got a stable internet connection, what difference does it make if you’re sat at home or somewhere hot and sunny, right?

Airbnb reports there’s been a 33 per cent rise in the number of stays exceeding 28 days since 2019, and has also released a list of the top digital nomad destinations, aka where customers book the longest stays.

It may surprise you to see five out of the 10 cities listed are based in the UK, but at the end of the day, cracking on with work is less about how close you are to a beach and more about good wifi. So where else are digital nomads settling down to work?…

The property rental company also revealed its latest trending travel destinations, and this time it’s no surprise to find six of them are in Spain – a holiday favourite for Brits. The Mexican city of Tulum is the only destination outside of Europe on the list.
