The big travel news this week was the US removing its testing requirement for international air travelers.
Now that the requirement has officially been dropped as of today, here’s a look at some destinations where Americans can travel to with no testing this summer. For a trip to these cities, you won’t need a test to visit and you won’t be required to take a test for your return. No more Covid-travel admin here – just fun and adventure!
Cabo San Lucas, Mexico
Mexico never had testing requirements for international travelers including US Americans. And back in early January of this year, the country removed the health questionnaire form requirement which was the only Covid restriction in place for travelers throughout the pandemic.
Cabo is one of the hottest destinations in Mexico. From top-rated beach resorts to plenty of outdoor adventures and great food to be had, travelers just can’t get enough. And with cheap flight options from the US West Coast, it’s pretty tempting not to get your Cabo on nowadays.
Punta Cana, Dominican Republic
Back in February, the Dominican Republic removed all of its entry requirements for travelers, including the mask mandate. At the time, 100% of scheduled flights are currently operating to the popular resort town of Punta Cana. So why not take an easy, stress-free getaway to the Caribbean?
Beyond the resort, there are so many opportunities to unwind and enjoy your stay in paradise. Visit the Los Haitises National Park for some rare wildlife viewing (the only way to get there is by boat!) and explore the caves at the Cueva de las Maravillas for a day trip so impressive that you’ll be thinking about for years.
London, England
The UK removed all of its Covid restrictions back in March, and US travelers do not need to show any pre-departure negative Covid tests for travel. And with US airlines ramping up transatlantic flights to London, it hasn’t been this easy to travel to the Big Smoke in a while.
Enjoy the warm summer weather in London and spend your afternoons at the Camden Market, wander Piccadilly Square, check out the many free museums, and relax with a pint on a patio at one of the city’s many famous pubs.
Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia
Following some confusion, Mongolia officially removed its entry requirements for international travelers, including testing mandates. This landlocked nation was pretty strict with Covid rules throughout the pandemic and remained closed to tourists for two years. But now, Mongolia is ready to welcome you back.
Mongolia is a destination that’s much more under the radar for travelers but is filled with lots of unique things to do. Fly into the capital of Ulaanbaatar and explore the historic city for a few days before heading off to the countryside, which is actually one of the most remote destinations in the world. It is possible to book a local tour in town for a day trip or even a week-long adventure depending on your availability.

Rome, Italy
Italy lifted all of its Covid-related entry requirements for travelers on June 1, so this summer you can visit Rome like it’s 2019 again.
The Italian capital city is the perfect place to indulge and make those travel dreams you’ve been fantasizing about for two years come true. See the sights, wander through the Piazza Novana, start your mornings with a streetside cappuccino and end your days with a tiramisu – just make sure there’s lots of gelato sampling in between.
And don’t forget to bring good walking shoes (not just to explore the historic sights, but to walk off all of that delicious fresh pasta!).
Dubrovnik, Croatia
Just last month, Croatia removed all of its entry requirements for international arrivals, including US Americans. On top of that, mask mandates have been removed and life in this Balkan country is back to normal when it comes to Covid health guidelines.
The historic, southern city of Dubrovnik is an amazing introduction to Croatia. While many tourists just spend a few days here, consider booking a longer trip so you can really get to know the place. With breathtaking views, impressive hotel stays, a stunning Old Town, and even sunset kayaking tours, you can easily fill your days in Dubrovnik while still traveling at your own pace.
Cancun, Mexico
Along with Cabo, Cancun is the hottest destination in Mexico and one of the most-visited destinations in the world over the past two years. With zero travel restrictions and even more direct flight options available from cities across the US, getting to Cancun has never been easier.
For your vacation, you can fly into Cancun and stay in this popular resort town or head off and explore other parts of Quintana Roo. Cancun is just a quick drive away from Playa del Carmen, Tulum, and Puerto Morelos if you’re looking for a more laid-back option.
Berlin, Germany
Germany has fully removed its entry requirements for US travelers and at the time of writing, American travelers can visit Germany without any pre-departure testing requirements.
Germany’s modern capital city of Berlin comes alive in the summer. Berliners are park people and this city is filled with them, so you’ll have no problems finding a gorgeous green space to lounge the day away with your travel buddies. You can pack a picnic, check out an outdoor festival or a weekend local market, and even go thrifting in a vintage shop in Neukölln, one of Berlin’s hippest neighborhoods. Afterwards, head to the popular area of Kreuzberg to check out some of the city’s best restaurants and bars.
All mask mandates have ended in Germany, with the exception of public transportation and healthcare settings. The masks must be medical grade, so don’t forget to bring your FFP2 mask to get on the Deutsche Bahn!
Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan
The Central Asian nation of Kyrgyzstan removed its entry requirements for international travelers back in April, so US travelers can visit visa-free and restriction-free this summer. What better opportunity to explore this lesser-known destination?
Along with Mongolia, Kyrgyzstan is a gorgeous landlocked country with so much to offer travelers. Just outside of the capital city of Bishkek, you’ll find the Altai Mountains which is a popular destination with intrepid explorers. The summer months are perfect for exploring this area, as many of the trails aren’t accessible during the winter.
Reykjavik, Iceland
Iceland removed its testing requirements for US travelers back in February. And with the warm summer months upon us, this gorgeous north Atlantic island is ready to welcome back tourists.
Low-cost airlines have recently been ramping up flight routes to Reykjavik, so a cheap flight to Iceland is only a few clicks away. What better way to celebrate the end of travel restrictions by taking a road trip through Iceland? On your summer adventure you can discover breathtaking waterfalls, hike volcanoes, lounge in the Blue Lagoon, and sample Icelandic delicacies at one of Reykjavik’s many top-rated restaurants.
