The nonprofit Tourism Cares and WeTravel, a booking and payments platform for business travel, have launched a course focused on sustainable tourism in the WeTravel Academy.
The free, one-hour course, “Introduction to Sustainable Tourism,” is available for any interested travel professional.
It is led by John Sutherland, Tourism Cares’ director of community impact. It includes 10 modules on different subjects, ranging from offsetting carbon emissions to providing equal opportunities for women and girls.
“It is our goal to unite, inspire and activate the industry toward positive change,” Tourism Cares CEO Greg Takehara said in a statement. “We’ve found that it isn’t always about what your organization is going to do but what we as individuals are going to do within our organizations — we all have a responsibility. Having an introductory course on sustainable tourism so widely available on the WeTravel Academy platform will allow people from businesses throughout our industry to get informed, engaged and push for change.”
