The Croatian National Tourist Board has announced that through a study conducted by Austrian organisers, it has been revealed that Croatia is at the top of the most sought-after foreign destinations by Austrians.
A press release issued on Wednesday, May 5, by the Croatian National Tourist Board revealed that a survey of 12,000 participants, titled “Travel Barometer in 2022”, has found that Croatia is the main destination for Austrians, SchengenVisaInfo.com reports.
The Director of the CNTB Representation Office in Austria, Branimir Toncinic, said that Austria is one of the most important domestic markets for Croatian tourism.
According to him, the survey data show that 95 per cent of Austrians said they want to spend their holidays within Europe.
“Other positive indicators according to which almost every second person in the Austrian market wants to travel more so than last year, and at the same time they want to discover new destinations, cultural and eno-gastronomic offer, as well as active tourism,” he also added.
The survey results also revealed that 53 per cent of respondents had already booked a trip this year, which shows the willingness and great desire of Austrians to travel. Meanwhile, 65 per cent of them have shown that they prefer the beach holiday.
Another survey conducted by renowned travel organiser Ruefa Reisen GmbH survey titled “Ruefa Reisekompass in 2022” with 1,500 respondents, has ranked Croatia in the second highest place of the most sought-after destinations in the Austrian market, which means it is ranked slightly behind Italy and ahead of countries such as Germany, Greece, and Spain.
“The results of this research, as well as the feedback of our partners from other important markets such as Germany, Slovenia, Poland, and the Czech Republic, confirm that the interest in travel and Croatia is very pronounced,” Director of the Croatian National Tourist Board Kristjan Staničić pointed out in this regard.
He also added that a large influx of guests is expected for the Easter period, especially from the nearby markets, where Croatian destinations are easily accessible by road.
This week, authorities in Croatia have completely lifted entry restrictions, which means that travellers are now exempt from presenting a health certificate and can enter the country restriction-free.
Data from the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) show that the removal of restrictions has come due to the high rate of vaccination, as 55.4 per cent of the Croatian population has been vaccinated against COVID-19.
