Springfield City Council

WORK SESSION

When: 6 p.m. Monday

What: Councilors will discuss their role in efforts to update the Willamalane Park and Recreation District’s comprehensive plan.

They’ll also discuss whether to continue tying fee increases to the Consumer Price Index, which increased more this year than it has in decades.

REGULAR MEETING

When: 7 p.m. Monday

What: Mayor Sean VanGordon will read proclamations recognizing an Eagle Scout and this year’s Women in Construction Week. Councilors also will get a short presentation from the groundwater guardians.

The council will hold a public hearing on whether to declare property at 725 S. 57th St. as surplus so the city can sell it and then will listen and respond to general public comment.

After voting on motions to appoint people to various boards and commissions, councilors will consider a grant agreement that would allow the city to start drawing on $1 million in state funding to help support services that address housing insecurity, lack of affordable housing or homelessness.

To watch: County meetings stream at bit.ly/LaneCounty-meetings. 

To comment: When there’s a chance to comment, people must register for the meeting. After registering, they’ll get information for how to attend. There will be instructions during the meeting for speaking during public hearings and making public comment. 

People also can email diana.jones@lanecountyor.gov with public comment by noon Monday. The subject line should include “PUBLIC COMMENT FOR MEETING DATE 03/08/2022.”

MORNING SESSION

When: 9 a.m. Tuesday

What: Commissioners will listen and respond to public comment then consider a consent calendar that includes various changes to the county manual, board appointments and contracts.

The board will vote whether to enter good-faith negotiations with WellPath, LLC for a new contract for medical, dental and mental health services at the county jail. WellPath is the current provider.

Commissioners also will discuss whether to approve a property tax exemption for Peterson Pacific Corp., which hopes to invest $8.2 million to relocate a manufacturing facility from Washington to the company’s location near the Eugene Airport. That’s set for 10 a.m. time certain, meaning other items on the agenda could shift around.

The board also will hear from Travel Lane County, which will present its semi-annual report covering July to December 2021.

Eugene City Council

WORK SESSION

When: Noon Wednesday

What: Councilors will hold a second discussion on three applications for multi-use property tax exemptions from the Portland-based developer seeking to build on the downtown riverfront.

They’ll also get an update on middle housing.
