Travel is back, and I have been very busy in my office of late, writes Wittering-based Travel Counsellor Emma Savage.

I’ve been arranging all sorts of trips, from family holidays in the Med, to exotic escapes to the Maldives.

There is definitely high demand, and I’m seeing holidaymakers keen to have something in the diary to look forward to, after the torrid couple of years we have all endured.

As well as holidays to the sun, there is another type of trip which has been very special for me to put together – and that is to organise travel arrangements which enable families to reunite after being apart for the last couple of years, due to covid. I’ve helped a number of customers get to Australia and it has been wonderful to share in their excitement in finally being able to jet away to see loved ones!

I also have an exciting trip of my own coming up soon; I’ve been invited to spend a few nights on board Royal Caribbean’s Voyager of the Seas in Barcelona as she gets ready to welcome passengers back on board. This travel trade-only sailing is a little like a dry run I guess, making sure everything works smoothly to pave the way for a busy summer season.

Voyager of the Seas is a spectacular ship and perfect for families, complete with waterslides, rock climbing walls and even an ice rink onboard! I’m looking forward to trying out all the activities with my son and enjoying a break away from the office. We shall be sailing from Barcelona down to Palma de Mallorca. Palma is a wonderful city and I’m looking forward to spending some time wandering the picturesque town, stopping for lunch and enjoying the views.

Cruises are a great way to holiday if you don’t like packing and unpacking – just imagine waking up in a new place every day, going ashore to explore and then returning to the comfort of the ship for a sumptuous meal and a few drinks. Bliss! I book a lot of cruises and they can be a little mindboggling for the uninitiated. There are so many choices – whereabouts is best to stay onboard (aft/forward/midship), which deck is best, what is included and what needs to be paid for on board. Not only that, but all ships are different, with different attractions and aimed at different customers. Its important to pick the right one so that you have a wonderful time, and I can help you do just that.

If you are thinking about a cruise, do get in touch, I would love to help you.

One final thing, I am now on YouTube sharing my travel tips and destination guidance – Emma’s Travel Talk.
