The Indonesian government has permitted foreigners to apply for a visitor visa or extend their visa online as Southeast Asia’s largest economy seeks to bolster tourism recovery post pandemic.
Starting January 26, foreigners can apply for a tourist visa through the molina.imigrasi.go.id website without a sponsor, Director General of the Directorate General of Immigration Silmy Karim said, according to the Antara news agency.
Earlier, foreigners were required to have a local sponsor in Indonesia to apply for their e-visa.
Indonesia eyes 7.4 million international arrivals this year, double the number last year.
Vietnam is offering a 30-day single-entry e-visa service for citizens from 80 countries and territories, including major economies such as the United States and Australia.
