With the recent years of pandemic-related travel restrictions, even royalty has had to embrace the humble staycation, with William and Kate taking their family summer holidays on the Isles of Scilly for the last two years in a row. William may well have remembered the spot from his childhood vacations, as Prince Charles and Princess Diana took both him and Harry there in 1989. Situated in an archipelago just off the coast of Cornwall, the Cambridges were spotted biking on the car-free island of Tresco, where onlookers said they seemed like any other happy family. They stayed at the charming Dolphin House, a six-bedroom stone cottage with staggering views over the sea and views towards the famed Round Island Lighthouse. Complete with a beautiful walled garden, it’s a gloriously private spot – and available to rent by non-royals too. What’s more, the island will one day belong to William, as Tresco is part of the Duchy of Cornwall, Charles’s private estate – when Charles becomes king, the duchy will naturally pass to William.
