What are your academic, personal and professional goals for next year? Let Swinburne Abroad help you tick off three goals at once with an overseas study tour, internship or semester exchange.
Global Mobility Associate Director Stewart Collins says there’s something for everyone, whether you’re interested in spending a few weeks or few months overseas, and no matter what you’re studying.
“There are dozens of options to broaden your horizons. In an increasingly globalised and digital world, students who expose themselves to new cultures and experiences through exchange or overseas study programs are giving themselves a great start,” he said.
“You can develop professional contacts internationally, gain a broader understanding of your industry, and really set yourself apart from the competition when you enter the workforce.
“But on a personal level, the time and opportunities you have to travel as a student, largely subsidised with grants and scholarships, you will rarely get later in life. So don’t let this pass you by.”

Financial help to travel
Traveling can be expensive, so Swinburne’s fee help and scholarships options are here to help. Among them are the prestigious New Colombo Plan travel grants for domestic undergraduates to study or intern in 40 locations across the Indo-Pacific.
In addition, all domestic students can get an OS-Help loan which adds the cost of your travels to your HECS debt, and those on Austudy or Youth Allowance payments will generally still be eligible to receive payments while you’re overseas.
For students considering a semester abroad, no extra tuition fees are applied when you study at a partner university. You’ll just need to pay your normal Swinburne semester fees.
