Ever the popular tourist spot, Trinidad’s sparkling sister isle promises much in the way of hospitality, modern luxury and the stunning natural ambiance for which Tobago is known to create the perfect romantic atmosphere for newlywed couples.

Wedding planner Rondell Bissoon of Elite Events gave his top three choices for honeymoon destinations in Tobago.

Villa Being, Arnos Vale

Situated on an expansive fruit estate in Arnos Vale, this gem is hidden away from view. According to the official page, it “can only be seen from the Caribbean Sea”, giving the venue the charm of “pure seclusion”.

The location, along with a sense of privacy, creates the impression of being enveloped by nature in one’s own world, ideal for couples to share their first intimate moments together as newlyweds.

Emphasising that Villa Being is “surrounded by nature” as one of its key attractions, Bissoon referred to the venue as a “luxury bed and breakfast” as it offers the homely comfort of a beautiful guest house with the allure of high-end facilities for a prime hybrid experience.

The Villas at Stonehaven, Black Rock

“Perfect for nature lovers,” according to Bissoon, the Villas at Stonehaven are within walking distance from the beach and are located right next to the Grafton Caledonia Bird Sanctuary, and offer magnificent views of the ocean as well as the forest.

The 14 luxurious ocean-view villas come with plunge pools and shaded verandahs, providing an opulent oasis in the heart of the lush natural surroundings.

The staff provides assistance with acquiring a marriage licence, along with the following services: full banqueting services, an in-house wedding planner and an airport meet-and-greet.

Mount Irvine Bay Resort, Mt Irvine, Scarborough

According to the venue’s official site, Mount Irvine Bay Resort is a “haven for intimacy and romance”, offering moonlit dinners on the venue’s private beach, couples spa treatments and live entertainment on the terrace, along with various other couples activities to help set the mood for love.

Bissoon praised the “modern design” of the resort’s rooms and also spoke of the “locally sourced food and beverages”, an attraction for guests who emphasise authenticity and sustainability.

The resort provides the choice of rooms and suites or, for couples who desire more space, a series of garden cottages.

“As a wedding planner,” Bissoon added, “I’ll encourage anyone to choose Tobago for their honeymoon–it’s clean, serene, full of history and rich in culture [with] delectable food [and] luxurious accommodation.”

Referring to Tobago as the perfect place for “honeymooners who want to relax and be pampered, Bissoon commended the island’s resorts for their experienced staff who, through extensive training and a genuine desire for guest satisfaction, make the very best efforts to ensure that their guests’ experience is top notch.

The range of activities, from golf and kayaking to scuba diving and exploring the island’s natural attractions, offers the serenity of being not merely near to the natural environment, but up close and personal with its wonders.

Thanks to the “unspoilt” natural beauty that is often a selling point for those who wish to visit Tobago, Bissoon said that “honeymooners can enjoy ‘sun, sea and sand’ in its true sense.”
