A BRADFORD district travel agent boss has given people advice ahead of the summer holiday peak period during what continues to be a record-breaking spell for his firm.
With the majority of schools breaking up this week, the big getaway is expected to start for the summer.
Tony Mann, director of Idle Travel based at Enterprise Five in Bradford Road, has urged holidaymakers to be prepared before they go to the airport for their summer holidays.
Destinations including Greece, Turkey, Spain and the Canary Islands are proving most popular for holidays, with many opting for all-inclusive options.
He says demand for his company has been spiked through social media with people from as far as Scotland booking their trips through them.
Mr Mann has provided people with tips to help them ahead of their holiday including being ‘airport ready’ with their travel documents and making sure their passport is valid and up to date.
He has also encouraged holidaymakers to take up the airline’s Twilight Check-in service. Firms including Yeadon-based Jet2 offer the service, where people can drop their bags off at their UK departure airport between 4.30pm and 9pm the night before their morning flight.
He says those booking flights have asked about the queues at airports after reports of long waits for travellers at airports across the country last month.
The aviation sector across Europe experienced “operational issues” including air traffic control delays, and increased times for identity checks of new recruits.
Mr Mann said: “Every day is our peak time at the moment. We’re crazy busy.
“We’re having record-breaking months each month since January this year. This is far and away our best year.
“I’m in shock at how busy it is. I knew there would be pent-up demand. The negative things about airport queues are not putting the majority of people off.
“When they book a holiday, people have been asking what it’s like at airports. People are still wanting to get away.
“I would say to people be airport ready, make sure your documents are ready and that your passport is ready. Twilight check-in can help you too. We have a long checklist that we go through with people.
“We haven’t had anyone miss their flight. We have been quite honest with people that they are going to have to queue at the airport and to be ready for that.
“We’re selling long haul holidays, but trips to places like Greece are proving popular.”
