Canadians are making travel plans again and Airbnb has released a list of the most popular destinations among its customers this spring. While you’d think that most people would be heading down south to Florida or even to B.C. for its warmer weather, Airbnb says that Toronto is the top trending destination among Canadians this spring.

“Toronto is the top trending destination for Canadians signaling a renewed interest in Canada’s largest urban destination, followed by Puerto Vallarta, Maui and Whistler, BC,” said Airbnb in a press release shared with Curiocity.

It seems like northerners are keener to explore the big city than to hit the beaches of Hawaii. We don’t blame them — it’s one of the best cities in the world, after all.

However, that’s not to say that Canadians aren’t travelling abroad as much. In fact, Canadians booking stays in the US and Mexico are Airbnb’s fastest-growing market segment this spring.

And people are definitely making March Break plans this year. Canadians booking stays during March Break have more than tripled compared to the same time last year.

With Canada’s global travel advisory now lifted, airlines increasing service to more destinations around the world, and endless international flight deals to take advantage of, it’s no wonder that Airbnb bookings are off the charts.

Tourists in Toronto won’t be disappointed this March Break, either — there’s so much going on in this city this month, many of which are free and super cheap.
