A slew of Irish travel agents have cancelled holiday tours to Russia in the aftermath of its invasion of Ukraine.

In a show of solidarity with the people of Ukraine, some of Ireland’s largest and most popular travel operators have dropped their Russian holiday offerings for the foreseeable future.

John Galligan Travel, Ireland’s leading Russian tour operator, this week scrapped its entire Russian travel programme.

Derek Keogh, managing director of GTI Travel, which specialises in group tours, said the agency had cancelled all tours planned to Russia for 2022. Keogh predicted that Russia, despite being a popular destination for the company, would not feature on travel itineraries “for a long time to come”.
