More flights ahead: easyJet adds UK and France routes from Malaga

Malaga Airport is expanding its easyJet network with two recent direct routes for summer 2027, opening up recent links to Britain and France. The airline has confirmed recent services to Southampton and Biarritz, giving travellers more options for holidays, family visits and short breaks from May next 12 months.

The announcements add to the alternative available to passengers travelling between the Costa del Sol and destinations across Europe, with each connections scheduled to operate twice per week. They come as Malaga Airport carries on growing its international network and invests heavily in capability upgrades.

New Malaga flights to Southampton

The recent Southampton to Malaga service was announced by easyJet on October 15, with flights resulting from begin on May 1, 2027. The route will operate on Tuesdays and Saturdays, providing a direct link between the Costa del Sol and England’s south coast. easyJet confirmed the brand new Southampton–Malaga flights as a part of a wider package of summer 2027 additions from the UK airport.

For British residents living in Malaga province and the broader Andalucian region, the connection could offer a useful alternative to travelling through larger airports comparable to London Gatwick or London Stansted when visiting family and friends.

Southampton can also be well placed for travellers heading to England’s south coast, the New Forest and parts of Hampshire and Dorset. Its airport offers another for passengers who would otherwise have to make an extended journey across southern England after landing in London. Southampton Airport said the addition would bring easyJet’s network there to 11 routes for summer 2027. The airline already serves destinations including Alicante, Barcelona, Belfast, Faro, Glasgow, Manchester, Paris Charles de Gaulle and Palma de Mallorca.

The recent route may also make Malaga more accessible to visitors from southern England searching for a Spanish holiday, whether or not they plan to spend their time on the beaches, explore inland Andalucia or visit the region’s towns and villages.

France connection opens up Biarritz ultimately

The second addition connects Malaga with Biarritz, on France’s Atlantic coast. The previous exhausting journey included a flight to Madrid, then one other to San Sebastian, and a hour-long bus journey across the border. EasyJet announced the route on September 24, with services scheduled to begin on May 7, 2027. The airline confirmed the twice-weekly Biarritz to Malaga service as a part of its French regional expansion. Previously, Air France offered a summer-only service at French prices. There’s no word yet on expected prices for this recent route, but EasyJet is nearly consistently cheaper than the French national carrier.

Flights are planned twice weekly as well, on Mondays and Fridays, through the summer season. The service will give passengers a direct link between Andalucia and a French destination known for its beaches, browsing and seaside atmosphere. Biarritz is widely known for its surf scene, food and coastal setting within the French Basque Country, near the Spanish border.

The route also needs to appeal to French visitors travelling in the wrong way, with Malaga providing access to the Costa del Sol, Granada, Cordoba and other destinations across Andalucia. It follows other recent easyJet expansion from Malaga, including a recent Bordeaux route scheduled to start on October 26, 2026.

For residents in southern Spain, a direct flight may make a brief trip to south-western France more practical than travelling by road or connecting through one other airport.

When do the brand new routes start?

The Southampton service is scheduled to start on May 1, 2027, while flights to Biarritz are resulting from start on May 7 and run until September 20. Both routes are planned to operate twice weekly. Passengers can check available dates, fares and booking details through the easyJet website.
