“We’ll get alerts of kind of high demand, and we did see that for this coming holiday,” said Cornelia Winn, who currently has two active Airbnbs in Manatee County. “It’s kind of every holiday, though. Like I said, the demand is off the chart.”
Winn owns Sun City Stables and said she plans to add mini cabins and spaces for RVs there that travelers can reserve through Airbnb. She said demand is consistently high, and one of her properties is booked through early 2024.
According to AAA, an online survey conducted last month showed 32% of Americans planned to travel for Labor Day weekend. Orlando came in at the number three destination, and Ft. Lauderdale was number five. More than 80% of travelers were expected to drive.
A spokesperson for Tampa International Airport said Labor Day isn’t as busy for them as other holidays. Still, with 340,000 passengers expected to fly through the airport during the extended weekend, travelers are encouraged to arrive two hours early and check for any weather-related delays.
